Thank You for Attending "Poverty: It's a Trap!"

Greetings everyone!

On October 17th, Poverty Talks! hosted our annual event for International Day to Eradicate Poverty. Focused on themes of barriers and challenges those experiencing poverty face, the theme for this year's event was "Poverty! It's a Trap!"

This event would not have been possible without the support of many. Firstly, we'd like to thank all of our participants: Crystal, Nigel, Bev, Brad, Grace, Josie, and Maria.  Sharing very personal stories is not easy and we thank you for taking such a risk. We would like to also thank the Peer Connections team for their hard work organizing this event.

We would like to thank Franco Savoia and Hannah Gwynn for their amazing work as Masters of Ceremony. Additionally, for work behind the scenes, including organizing, editing, and interviewing, Poverty Talks! extends it's heartfelt gratitude to Amber Cannon, Dale Perret, Gary Webster, Jessica Clements, Tracey Mah-Gillies, Matt Youens, Benton Deschamps, Laura Nauta,Natalie Appleyard, Emily Renaud, and Ruva Gwekwerere.

Every year we partner with Dignity for All for the "Chew on This" campaign to raise awareness about food dignity and we once again would like to thank them for partnering with us. To learn more about the "Chew on This" campaign, please click here.

We would also like to thank Vibrant Communities Calgary for their continued support for Poverty Talks! and the work we do, including International Day to Eradicate Poverty,

But most of all, we would like to thank everyone who attended the event, and everyone who watched the event afterwards on YouTube. If you were unable to join us live, and have yet to watch the event—or wish to watch it again—you can watch the event here.

We offer our most heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this year's event, and look forward to next year!
